weekend get-a-way

So I agreed to trek off with 11 other chicks from KCC this weekend ... from what I could tell we all had a good time - even though, for a few of us, this was a very new and strange thing to be a part of. We met up with 300 other 'hens' from Ontario ... think we all managed to get home alive at the end of it - so that in itself is a blessing I figure!

 

 

The chicks from KCC started our weekend off by meeting up for lunch - what's a weekend get-a-way unless there's eating involved!

 

 

 

 

 

 

We got to JPCC in good time - so I figured it was a good plan to check out the area - while it was still 'light' out - so I took off running to see what I could find! 

 

 

 

 

Apparently, having fun was a requirement for this weekend! Good job I'm usually up for that ...

I took advantage of spending time outside, for the most part the rain held off - and my camera was even allowed to come out and play for a while!

It's nice to able to be planted in a such a setting where God is speaking (and I'm listening) just about every moment of the day ...

 

Keeping up with the 'party' theme we had a wee 'fiesta' on Saturday ... again ... fun times ...

Then came Sunday! It was time to get things moving apparently ... and of course, it was sad to see the weekend come to an end ...

yup, not much to complain at this time of year when God splashes his creation with color - how can we help but praise Him!

learning and surprising

two totally unrelated things

While were out and about today - the 'others' felt it was time for a 'texting' lesson ... not sure if what I managed to 'enlighten' them with will amount to anything - guess we'll see how many texts I start getting!!

For the evening I made my way to the Kroeker's to 'babysit' ... well there's some truth there -but the real reason was to make sure a surprise party for Steven went off without a hitch - or at least any huge ones. As it turns out - it worked - Steven was surprised! From my 'view' on it all - I think everyone gathered had a great time ... it sure is nice to celebrate people's lives now-and-then ... and what they mean to each of us ... we're all different ... and we what we 'do' for each other is usually incomparable on many counts ... Thanks Steven for your witness ...

back to the farm

a not-so-needed 6 week haircut!

Well, my plan didn't quite work out ... I got a haircut before leaving Kitchener - just so that I could 'make do' until I was able to see Ange while in Cowtown. Get this! - even for me!! - my hair was cut too short!! I kept my appointment with Ange though - it had been ages since we had seen each other - and I figured this was a guaranteed way to see her while I was in her neck of the woods. Ange worked with what she had - and 'cleaned' a few things up. Needless to say I didn't sit in the 'chair' for too long - there wasn't really much that she could do! That was all fine and dandy - we hung out for the evening and grabbed a meal together ... of course, with that we had a lovely chat and 'catch-up' time ...

 

 

Here's my challenge for you ... if you're finding you haven't made 'contact' with a friend in what seems like dogs ages - and you're able to do so - go for it ... make a point at picking up the phone ... clear your calendar - even for a 30 minute 'coffee' ... if you think you won't have anything to talk about ... I'll give you a topic ... find out where you each are on your faith journey. Who knows, you just might find out something about yourself - you just might be the 'trigger' that your friend is needing to go deeper ... If only, if only we could find it 'easy' to go deeper ...

ice-cream ... a new ritual??

So the last time I was in cowtown - a gathering was had with the cousin and his family ... we made home-made ice-cream ... So - why not do it again!! It was some good by'! And to think I don't really 'enjoy' ice-cream ... I usually make an exception for this 'homemade' stuff though ... it must be the memories of the 'carnation milk' that draws me in!

radium or bust

It's a long story - but the plan was to trek off to Radium and stay there for the night. We made it to Radium - kept going further still and spent the afternoon in Kimberly - only to get back to Radium to find that the accommodations we had reserved were not suitable for a 4-chick get-a-way! It's a long story - the short version is that we drove back late at night to Canmore and stayed there for the night instead. And then headed into Banff from Canmore on Sunday morning. There were lots of wildlife on the highway on the drive back to Canmore (mainly deer) ... but we all kept our eyes peeled for them - we made it safe and sound (as you can tell ... 'cause I'm sitting here to write about it) ... such as it is - enjoy the pictures of our 'rainy day' in Kimberly & Radium ...
